"Where Old Friends Meet"
Our Mission
Our mission is to foster a welcoming environment where families, friends, and neighbors come together to connect, learn, and create lasting memories.
History
Mr. Luther F. Hutton started the Clay District Fair in September of 1936. Hutton was the Vo-Ag teacher at Daybrook High School and he began as a way to showcase the hard work of the local student farmers. Hutton insisted that all members of the local FFA Chapter take part in the pair and they were our first directors.

The Fair has continued since 1936 annually (except for years 1943 and 1944, interesting note, on July 3, 1942, CDFA bought $500 worth of war bonds and the directors agreed to "suspend the fair for the duration of World War II and until our brave young men come home.")

The Clay District Fair, or the Daybrook Fair, as some call it, is the highlight of the summer season for many in Daybrook and other small communities in western Monongalia County, WV. Some quote the title of the 1940 novel "You Can't Go Home Again" to lament the passage of time and the fact that we cannot return to simpler ways of life... but one week each August, friends, neighbors, and family members gather in Daybrook, WV for a trip down memory lane, some good food, and lots of smiles and "howdies."
